I'm a bit confused about feeding roos in our fellowship. Do the roos have to be set to fellowship mode too? Of just the food?

I've set the food (in fellowship mode) but my friend's roos (in my fellowship) don't seem to be eating. He had something come up in RL and I am trying to keep his roos from running away. I like that we can work together in our fellowship, but doesn't it make sense that if someone put down food in front of a fellowship member's starving meeroos, they would eat it? I don't see that it would cause any harm if they were fed by someone else, so I'm not sure why they have to be set for fellowship, if that's the case (and I'm thinking it is).

Is this the case? It doesn't really make sense to me.
