Hi All,

These darned roos are making me feel dense. I just don't "get" how these danged coats work. Up until this week, I have focused primarily on traits because *those* make sense to me. But, feeling that I am falling behind (with my four and five trait fawns and winecoats) I have begun to try to puzzle out the coats.

I have spent hours pouring over Chilali's progression map ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/67591327@N04/6280554087/in/photostream/lightbox/ ) and some of the other things people have posted, but I am just not seeing exactly how it goes. I went though yesterday and re-paired everyone up in new ways and the very first nest born was this (LOL!):

A western, from a cinder and a koi. Ok now, I am so NOT complaining, but I just dont see how I could have predicted that outcome. Sometimes this whole coat thing just feels completely random. How on earth do you guys seem to know what to expect? I am just sitting here going Woot on one hand and scratching my head with the other. Can somebody please help me to understand this crazy breeding?
